Definition of adequate model for knowledge repre-sentation in modern information systems

The article summarizes limitations of relational database approach in modern informational systems. Analysis is made based on main distinctive features of knowledge that is processed by modern informational systems. Non-relational data models such as frames, object model and ontology are considered as alternatives to relational approach in regard to defined particularities. As result, rules are defined for choosing the adequate data model to be used in modern informational systems.
